Be careful when you compete with Pete

Here is a cautionary tale. I am writing this while recovering from running the Edinburgh marathon with my old friend Pete Goodchild on 28 May. What happened? And what has this to do with Bergerac?

Sculling with yoga and Telemetry

Sculling coaching by Ali Boileau

Sculling with Luca and Grace
early July and August 2026: details to follow

Entering flow.
In 2026 we shall have two weeks working on breathing and meditation before sculling. These weeks will not be hard training weeks, but more recovery weeks with some long distance technical paddling with a longer yoga session in the morning followed with twenty minutes of meditation, building up to half an hour of meditation, followed by some "dynamic meditation" (sculling), while also focusing on breathing and counting. Dates for this are listed on the bookings page.

Joining a group
The summer training season starts in July and runs through to September. This is when Ali Boileau and his team will be coaching small groups of scullers, and running their Sculling with Yoga course. You can join one of his groups either individually, or as a member of a club or family booking.

Renting the house
Another way to join us is to take the house as a tenant. Rentals are weekly, Sunday/Monday to Saturday, and subject to availability can be at any time outside the summer season. There are some advantages to this approach. The main difference is that coaching and equipment hire are not included with the house-rental, but can be set up separately as required. This helps you match your week's activities to your own needs and interests. Can only be organised with people who have been to courses and know the house and river and are known to Ali.

Either way, the first step is to get in touch and let us know in principle what you would like to do. We can then discuss the options. Contact
